On December 20 of this year, with the support of the World Bank and the European Union, as well as with the involvement of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the official presentation of the 2022 assessment of Public Expenditures and Financial Accountability (PEFA) was held.
According to the 2022 Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) Global Report, Georgia ranks first among 59 countries in terms of continuous improvement in public finance management.
PEFA Assessment results claim that performance of Georgia has been improved or maintained in the case of 27 out of the total 31 indicators, compared to the 2018 assessment.
According to the results of the PEFA assessment, according to the P-26 internal audit indicator/dimension, in relation to the 2018 assessment (score B+), the current assessment has been improved and given an assessment of A, which is the highest assessment according to the PEFA methodology.
The mentioned evaluation was carried out for the level of the central government, which represents the joint success of both the Central Harmonization Unit (CHU) and the internal audit units established at the central level.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili, Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze, Regional Director of the World Bank in the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus, Acting Head of the European Union Representation Programs Catalin Gherman, Head of the Governance Program of the United Nations Women's Organization Tamar Vashakidze. Head of the Public Internal Control Department of the Ministry of Finance, Giuli Chkuaseli was invited and presented at the event, as well as representatives of agencies, international partners, and civil society.
