In December 2023, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the International Board on Internal Auditing Standards, approved a new global standard for internal auditing.
Currently, the document is available only in English, but it is planned to be translated into other languages in the coming months.
It is worth noting that the International Standard for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing - IPPF, as a term, was changed in 2023 to the name of the Global Internal Audit Standards.
The updated standard will enter into force in January 2025 - 12 months after its publication.
Approval of the standard was preceded by 6 months of intensive work, in the form of public hearings and consideration of comments from interested parties, within the framework of which 19,000 comments received from 1,600 surveys were processed.
The changes made are essential for internal auditors to be able to cope with the challenges in the profession and to respond to the new needs they face.
This is one of the largest projects of the Internal Audit Institute in the history of its existence, which will continue in 2024 with the development of thematic requirements that should be considered in the audit process.
